Hook Model
What is it & why should you use it?
The Hook Model by Nir Eyal is a psychological framework designed to create habit-forming products and experiences. It leverages the principles of trigger, action, variable reward, and investment to engage and retain users. It's particularly useful in educational settings to drive student engagement and participation
How to use it?
Trigger: Identify what triggers will prompt students to engage with the educational material. These triggers can be external (e.g., notifications) or internal (e.g., curiosity).
Action: Design a user-friendly platform where students can easily take actions related to their educational tasks. Make it simple and intuitive.
Variable Reward: Implement a system that provides variable rewards for completing tasks, such as gamified elements, achievement badges, or recognition.
Investment: Encourage students to invest their time, effort, or resources in the platform, making them more likely to return and continue using it.
