Classical Conditioning
What is it & why should you use it?
The Pavlovian Theory, rooted in psychology, explores how behaviors can be conditioned through repetition and association. It can be applied to education, marketing, and community building to reinforce desired behaviors and create habitual engagement.
For example, regular reminders and associations can be used to condition learners to respond positively to a specific stimulus like a quiz.
How to use it?
Identify Desired Behaviour: Determine the response you want to condition, such as participation in a weekly quiz.
Choose a Stimulus: Select a stimulus that will be repeatedly paired with the desired response, like a specific reminder or reward.
Implement Repetition: Repeatedly pair the stimulus with the response to create an association.
Monitor and Adjust: Analyse the effectiveness of the conditioning and adjust as needed to reinforce the behavior.
Where was it used?
QShala applied the Pavlovian Theory in conditioning participants to look forward to the quizzes, using reminders, consistent timing, and community engagement. The use of this theory helped in habit-forming and increased participation in their thematic quizzes. Read more about it here.
